Well, it is almost time for the Islanders to open the regular season at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 3rd. In the meantime, though there are a few important things to note going on today and tomorrow.

Let's start with the infamous Lighthouse Project. Today was the rezoning hearing at Hofstra University. The hearing was supposed to give Charles Wang and Scott Rechler an idea of the "certainty" they needed to have before the October 3rd deadline. It also happens to be the season/home opener for the Islanders, as well as John Tavares' NHL debut.

So I have been reading today, only to find, that the morning half of this meeting isn't going too well. Hopefully, the night portion of the meeting is better. Ok, well I have stood by this project from day one when Wang and Rechler designed the Lighthouse and I still stand by it. This project has taken over 9 years and counting to just get APPROVED let alone built. Come on, do you mean to tell me that after all this time the Town of Hempstead CAN'T GET IT DONE! I am sorry but this nonsense has gone on long enough!

Ok, now on to the Islanders-Kings game in Kansas City. It's kind of ironic that the meeting was scheduled for the SAME day isn't it? Though this is an exhibition game, it makes you wonder if the Islanders will call the Sprint Center their future home? Regardless of who scheduled the game the Islanders future of EVER playing in Uniondale certainly looks bleak. For all us die-hard fans, the future is not one to be proud of for the Islanders and it is unfortunate. My final thoughts on tonight's game are as follows:

1)Dwayne Roloson gets the start.
2)It's a chance to see a brand new facility and the surrounding scenery.
3)It's a chance to see the Rookies one last time before the roster is trimmed to 23 for the season and home opener.

Well, I don't know what else I can say except enjoy the game and wait for an update tonight on Part 2 of the Lighthouse rezoning meeting.
