Well folks, the Rick DiPietro era has come to an end at long last. The New York Islanders will use one of their two compliance buyouts on the one time number one overall pick. Since DiPietro signed his MEGA deal he has barely played and could never stay healthy.
The time was right to move on from Rick and look to the future. While Kevin Poulin and Anders Nilsson are not ready to take the reigns of the goal crease, this move had to be made.
Arthur Staple was the first to break the news. Having written to Staple about the status of DP lately and not receiving any responses I had a feeling something might have been brewing.
