Hockey is back in full swing and it's time to talk about the first two games of the season in which the Islanders took three out of four points.

On Friday, the Islanders played a gritty game against the Devils in Jersey.  A game in which Nabokov stood on his head and Michael Grabner and Frans Nielsen lit the lamp and Matt Mouslon sealed the game in the shootout.  The game was not pretty by any stretch of the imagination because it was a sloppy first game but two points is two points.

Last night the Islanders skated at home for the first time this season against the Columbus Blue Jackets.  The game was filled with excitement from start to finish.  Moulson and Visnovsky lit the lamp for the Islanders and once again Nabokov stood on his head making highlight reel saves, defying his age of 38.

I was at the game with my father and loved the near sellout crowd atmosphere.

It has only been two games but you can tell this not your typical Islanders team.
