The Islanders have re-signed forward Eric Boulton today for another year. The deal isn’t a blockbuster move but it’s a smart move.
Boulton who will be 38 next season is the type of player who knows his place in the game. He does not score much but what he does is bring a physical element to line-up. He’s the type of player who understands his role and knows that he is not an everyday player. He is a veteran presence in the locker room and has been around the game for a long time.
Obviously, this is a depth signing and nothing to really get excited about, but Boulton does bring that physical aspect to the game and it’s nice to see the Islanders continue to notice that they need to be more physical to compete against other teams.
Again, it’s not earth-shattering but a decent depth signing.
The real fun with signing players and potential trades will come once the season is over.
